Throughout our lifetime, there are moments that change us forever. Some moments stand out far more than others, and yet, sometimes it’s not always for a good reason. This is one of those moments that not only stands out above the rest but also is as good as it gets!

From time to time Josh Worley drops in to catch up with Greenville’s Warehouse Associates. On one of his previous visits, Josh was talking about his love for movies, especially M. Night Shyamalan movies. (If you are not familiar with M. Night’s work, he is most known for The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, Lady in the Water, and The Happening, just to name a few.) After Josh left, Benjy Brown, Greenville Distribution Coordinator, and I talked about how great it would be to get a signed photo of Josh’s favorite filmmaker. I reached out to my brother-in-law, Tom, in New Jersey and asked him if he could point me in the right direction. My brother-in-law works for the nation’s leading distributor for home entertainment products. A couple of days later, I received an email from Mark Ehrenkranz, Series Producer with New York Film Critics Series. Mark recruited the assistance of Marielle Abaunza, who works for a Public Relations Company that works directly with M. Night. With Marielle’s aid, I was going to get that autographed copy of M. Night for Josh in the mail. A couple of weeks passed and I had yet to hear anything from Marielle. I contacted her, and she was surprised that I had not received the photo yet. She then told me that she would get in touch with M. Night’s office and get back to me. What happened next is proof that God is listening. This is the exact email I received just one day later.

Hi Chris,

My name is China, and I am M. Night Shyamalan’s assistant at Blinding Edge Pictures. I received a request through his publicist for a signed photo from Night for your friend Josh Worley. Unfortunately, we don’t have any headshots or photos on hand. But Night wanted to do something for him, so I am sending you a bound script from “Lady in the Water” in which Night has written a personal note to Josh. He thought that this would be more special than signing a poster or DVD since only the cast and crew of his films are the recipients of these bound scripts, so it’s not something you can get anywhere.

At this point, Night’s schedule is packed since we are working on a new film, and he is traveling a lot so I don’t know if a phone call will be possible. But please let me know if there is anything else we can do!

Best,
China

On October 28th, on my way home for lunch, a Fed Ex truck passed in front of me as I waited at a stop sign near my home. The truck then turned down my block and stopped in front of my house. I knew exactly what he was delivering and tremendous joy came over me as I looked to the sky and said, “I love you Lord.” What a moment for my wife and I as we opened what at first appeared to be an ordinary hard covered book. This was no ordinary book. Inside the book, on the very first page was a personally hand written note to Josh.

Dear Josh,

I was told you’ve seen and enjoyed some of my films. It really made me happy to hear how much they meant to you. At the end of each film, I bind the script and give it as a gift to each crew and cast member. I would love for you to have the one from “Lady in the Water.” This was my most personal film.

With thanks and Best Wishes
M. Night Shyamalan

That night, my wife, Jeanne, and I presented Josh with his very own bound script personalized by his favorite filmmaker. I now know what the people at the Make-A-Wish Foundation feel like on a daily basis. It’s a great feeling and one I highly recommend you experience just once in your lifetime. When you are asked why or how you pulled it off…the answer is simple: “The Lord is working through me, and He wanted you to know that He is listening. And He loves you very much!”
