Once a quarter, the Jacksonville Branch Team and their Cares Champion enjoy the privilege of serving at the Sulzbacher Care Center in northeast Jacksonville, a provider of comprehensive services for homeless men, women and children. On an average daily basis the center houses approximately 340 individuals, provides healthcare to some 200 patients, and feeds a multitude of individuals who might otherwise go hungry.

Since the founding of the Daily Bread Life Children’s Home in Iringa, Tanzania, in 2006, Eastern President/CEO, Kip Miller, longed for the time when a team of Eastern Associates would travel to Tanzania to serve the Directors, Staff and Children at the home. That dream became a reality when the first Eastern Mission Team visited Tanzania in January 2012. Highlights of that first team trip are excerpted from the company’s Spring 2012 newsletter at the link below.

Sometimes, it seems like the Lord shows us things when we are not looking. I, often, think I know what is best for me and my family, and the Lord mixes it up so that we have opportunities to learn those things we wouldn’t have learned on our own.
When I was growing up on the farm in Marion County, my hands were one big callus. Even as a small child working on the farm and playing hard around barns, my hands were like “cow hide” as my mother would say. I was famous for catching bees in my hand and bringing them to my mom to “listen.” I even held wasps with no ill effect.
Eastern suffered a tragic loss today with the unexpected passing of Terry Joe Wooten (43).
Eastern suffered a tragic loss today with the unexpected passing of Terry Joe Wooten (43). Terry had been with the company for fourteen years and was the Distribution Coordinator for Huntsville, Alabama.
Mark Brown, Huntsville Branch Manager, commented, “Terry was a loyal and dedicated associate. He was a big part of our success as Piping Plus and the last four years as Eastern. He took great pride in his job and was liked and respected by all his co-workers and our customers. He was a friend to all. We are heartbroken that Terry is no longer a part of our daily lives, but joyful that we got to share in his life and career with him.”
Associates company-wide collected donations to help provide for the Wooten family during this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wooten family. Terry will be dearly missed.
