Camp Providence

July 15, 2010

This summer my family and I were able to volunteer at Camp Providence again.  Camp Providence gives kids who cannot afford to go to camp, the experience of camp as well as the opportunity to hear the Gospel.  It is very important that we reach the young people with the message of Jesus Christ’s redemptive power and love.  Most of these young people have already been introduced to street gangs.  The kids all seem to be looking for the same thing, someone who will love and accept them unconditionally.  This camp does just that, it treats everyone the same regardless of who they are.  It should be an example to us all.

Funny Thing About Human Nature

June 3, 2010

When I am working with someone on financial and other life issues, I often learn more about myself than I do about that person. One of the most interesting things I’ve learned about us has to do with how we choose to respond to a problem we’re facing. Usually, one of two crises bring us to the moment of a decision to act.  Either we have dug a hole so deep that we can’t see hope for a way out, or our circumstances dramatically and suddenly cost us something that we held dear.

Eastern Commemorates 30th Anniversary – June 9, 2010

Eastern Industrial Supplies, Inc. headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, celebrates their 30th Anniversary this year.  Observing this milestone throughout 2010, senior leadership felt it important to share this achievement with the individuals who made this accomplishment possible – Eastern’s Associates and Customers.  Eastern showed their gratitude by hosting Customer Appreciation Day Events across the company as well as a special Associate Appreciation Day.  “Our growth and development has not been possible without the extraordinary dedication and commitment of our Associates, Customers, and Vendor Partners,” declares Richy Milligan, Vice President – Sales and Marketing.

Independently owned and operated, Eastern has continued to expand across the Southeast with 12 locations in order to better serve their customer base.  With a steadfast and optimistic look to the next 30 years, Eastern plans to continue growth as a full-line distributor of pipe, valves, fittings, and commercial plumbing supplies.  Eastern’s business model includes a daily commitment to exceed customer expectations while honoring five core values – Honesty, Integrity, Caring, Self-Responsibility, and Being Positive.

Needs and Wants

June 4, 2010

I saw an article that made me stop and think. Sometimes, that is painful! Society tells us that we deserve many things. It tells us that we are the most important one and that our spouses should meet all the wants that we have in our lives. It is no wonder we have trouble staying together as couples. Who could possibly meet all our wants? The article I read said, “We need food and water but another person will not always meet all our wants: self-esteem, financial, sexual desires, large amount of companionship, etc. There is only one that meets all of our needs and that is God. He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus.”

Help us Lord to follow you and not expect another person to give us our wants. Help us to look to you for what we need, and help us by controlling our wants.
