MHM Children’s Home Christmas

December 23, 2009

As in years past, Eastern helped to provide Christmas gifts for the children at the Miracle Hill Ministries Children’s Home.  This year was a bit different, however, in that we partnered directly with Lenora Cuddy, MHM Volunteer, and Enginneered Systems to provide Christmas for all the children currently in the home.

Partnering with MHM

October 28, 2009

Eastern recently had the opportunity to help Miracle Hill Ministries (MHM), which is involved in several areas of ministry throughout Greenville and the Upstate of South Carolina.  MHM operates a boys shelter, children’s home, women’s shelter, and a rescue mission that supplies food and shelter for the homeless.  They have many programs within these arms of ministry to serve the community.

The 410 Bridge

December 1, 2009

When I left Africa, I knew I would have trouble finding the words to accurately describe the past week. Aunt Betty coordinates family functions because she has a genuine love for each individual. Aunt Betty has reminded me that even the unlovable are lovable.

Pay It Forward

November 24, 2009

To meet Mr. Walter Bruce of Greenville, South Carolina, to spend just a few precious moments in his company, far exceeds anything this world can offer to brighten the darkest of days, the gloomiest of moods, lifting spirits soaring. Such is the nature, the person of Mr. Bruce, who for many years until his retirement had been a faithful Customer of Eastern—and a Friend for Life.

Peru Mission Trip

November 9, 2009

This past October I had the opportunity to go to the Village of Manzano, in the Panoa Region of Peru, deep in the Andes Mountains. Our mission was to conduct reading workshops with the Quechua Indians. These people have a spoken language but no written language. Terry and Karla Smith, a missionary team living in the region for over 25 years, developed a written language for the Quechua. With the help of Wycliffe Bible Translators, the Smiths have translated the New Testament into Quechuan and are currently working on the Old Testament, so that these people have the opportunity to know the Lord through the written word.
