We are saddened to report that Josh Worley succumbed to his battle with cancer yesterday.  Many Eastern Associates had formed a closer bond to Josh after seeing his inspirational fight against this disease.  He will be missed.  Below is his obituary from The Greenville News.

Calloused

When I was growing up on the farm in Marion County, my hands were one big callus. Even as a small child working on the farm and playing hard around barns, my hands were like “cow hide” as my mother would say. I was famous for catching bees in my hand and bringing them to my mom to “listen.” I even held wasps with no ill effect.

Christmas Tradition

Our Jacksonville location hosted their Annual Christmas Customer Appreciation Lunch on Thursday, December 16th.  Over 300 customers came by to sample the smorgasbord of food.  Jimmy Wight, Assistant Branch Manager, spearheads this tradition by cooking up smoked sausage, pulled pork, turkey, chicken, and ham plus all the sides.

Celebration in Tanzania

The results are in on the National Exams for students entering the Secondary School level. Exam scores determine the quality of school that a student can attend. All three of the students from Daily Bread Life Children’s Home passed their national exams and are qualified to enter Secondary School!

Hungarian Visitor

Two Hungarians, Zsolt Kovacs (right)and Attila Toth, met recently at the Greenville Branch. Zsolt has been an Eastern Associatefor seven years. Attila Toth is a pastor working with Hungarian ethnics and Roma (Gypsy) people in the Mures District of Romania (Transylvania near the Carpathian Mountains).
